Learn how to give your handmade jewelry a clean, professional finish with the new Scrimps Tool Kit from Beadalon. Beadalon Scrimps are an alternative to a crimp bead and are tightened on a bracelet or necklace beading wire using a tiny screw. The tool kit is similar to an eyeglasses repair kit with a tiny screwdriver, scrimps and screws. It comes in a gold plated or silver plated finish.
The kit includes 1 tool, 10 Scrimps and 6 extra screws. The Wire Guardians shown in this guide are also a Beadalon product which is sold separately from the tool kit.
STEP 1
Loosen the screw on the Scrimp using the screwdriver tool to open up the hole in the Scrimp:
STEP 2
Thread the beading wire through the Scrimp then onto a Wire Guardian. The Wire Guardian is the horseshoe shaped finding that has a hole in each end to run a wire through:
STEP 3
String a clasp onto the wire and on the Wire Guardian. Then thread the end of the beading wire back through the Scrimp:
STEP 4
Push the Scrimp up to the Wire Guardian and tighten the screw in the Scrimp with the screwdriver tool to lock it into place on the wire:
You can also use the screwdriver tool to loosen the screw and easily take your jewelry piece apart.
